THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL MAGIC |
In distinction from usual academic practice, this department eschews specialisation. Instead, we explore any aspect of magic which may assist students to clarify their direction for themselves and to succeed in it. Therefore course contents range from foundational results magic to remedial philosophy. Practical exercises form the basis of coursework in order to avoid producing occultniks who own lots of books but do little or no actual magic. HEAD OF DEPARTMENT: THE KITE
For lack of an adequate description I call myself a chaos magician. I belong to the Magical Pact of the Illuminates of Thanateros and I author a chaos magic website, the Kite’s Cradle. Occupations have included: theology student, actor, neuro-linguistic programmer, comedian, retailer, rock singer, financial speculator, novelist and probation worker. I outgrew both catholic and pentecostal Christianity (simultaneously), through the writings of Wittgenstein, Alan Watts and Krishnamurti, until my pursuit of NLP directed me to Alfred Korzybski, Milton Erickson, and especially Richard Bandler. In 1997, as one of my regular investigations into new areas I wouldn’t normally touch with a shitty stick, I took up magic. |
